Recording music for Billy Liar at London’s Sonica Studios
I visited the 1950s with Isobel Waller-Bridge, recording her Jazz score for Manchester Royal Exchange Theatre’s production of Billy Liar. We made our first visit to Clapham’s Sonica studios in South London, a hidden gem with a gorgeous vintage Bechstein grand. Their really interesting mic collection, including some vintage Altec and B&O ribbon mics, helped us turn back the clock on the recordings. Have a listen!
